ABC Outpatient is a licensed outpatient substance use recovery program located in Sturgis, South Dakota, operated by Action for the Betterment of Our Community, a registered nonprofit organization. This application is a closed, invitation-only platform available exclusively to enrolled program participants, staff, and administrators.
We collect only what is necessary to operate the program. This includes your name, contact information, sobriety date, daily and weekly check-in responses, housing status, medication records, individual session notes, group attendance, and messages sent within the app. All information is provided directly by you or entered by authorized program staff on your behalf.
Your information is used solely to support your recovery and program participation. This includes tracking your progress, coordinating care with your counselor, managing housing and medication records, scheduling peer support and individual sessions, and facilitating communication within the program. We do not use your information for advertising, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to your treatment.
Your assigned counselor and program administrators can view your records as part of your treatment team. Other clients cannot see your personal information. We do not share your information with third parties except as required by law, in a medical emergency, or with your explicit written consent.
Records related to your substance use treatment are protected under 42 CFR Part 2, a federal regulation that provides stronger confidentiality protections than standard HIPAA rules. We will not disclose your participation in this program or share your treatment records without your written consent, except in a bona fide medical emergency or as otherwise expressly permitted by law.
All data is stored securely using encrypted databases. Communication between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Access to your records is restricted to authorized program staff only. We take reasonable technical and administrative measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
We retain your records for the period required by South Dakota state law and applicable federal regulations governing substance use treatment records. When your records are no longer legally required, they are securely deleted or de-identified.
You have the right to request access to your records, request corrections to inaccurate information, and ask questions about how your information is used. To exercise these rights, contact us using the information below. We will respond within a reasonable time frame and in accordance with applicable law.
This application serves adults and adolescents enrolled in our licensed treatment programs. If you are under 18, your records are subject to additional protections under applicable state and federal law, including requirements around parental consent and confidentiality. Please speak with your counselor if you have questions.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify enrolled users through the app. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
